Making homemade soap: What is superfat soap?

Homemade soap making

What is soap superfat?

The overgreasing of soap is the excess fat which remains in the soap when the saponification reaction is completed and the manufacture of the soap is finished.

It is a common practice that we adopt with our soaps so that they are moisturizing and pleasant to use.

How to overgrow a soap

There are 2 ways to overgrow a soap, either by reducing the soda, or by adding the fat to the finalization of the soap.

We prefer to add it at the end to be sure that the oils keep all their benefits and properties!

Most of our body soaps contain 22% shea butter and the fat varies between 3% and 8%, depending on the function we want to give it.
